Community Weekend June 2012

On the last weekend in June 2012 our community gathered for a time of reflection, celebration and story telling at the Queensland  Conference and Camping Centre in Brookfield.

We began with a ritual of welcome which you can download here. We used the  familiar Servant Song with some new lyrics:

Brother, Sister let me serve you,
Let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I might have the grace,
To let you be my servant too.

We are pilgrims on a journey,
We are family on the way.
We are here to help each other,
Love and listen every day

I will hold the Christ-light for you,
in the night-time of your fear.
I will hold my hand out to you,
speak the peace you long to hear.

I will weep when you are weeping,
when you laugh I'll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow,
till we've seen this journey through

Welcome to our time together,
Welcome to this sacred space.
As we look towards each other,
May we see God’s loving face

I have invited community members to share their experience of the weekend here, so drop by again to see updates as they are posted.
Some of the highlights of the gathering included:

  • Celebrating our membership and  our ritual of commitment.
  • Working on a visual version of our community mandate
  • Planning for  the 2012 10th Anniversary of L'Arche Brisbane

  2. This was a great weekend, spending time together and working towards things that are important in our Community life. We has a sense of relationships past and present; we shared laughter, chats and good food; and gave thanks for our many blessings.
